Eugene Fromentin was born into a wealthy family in La Rochelle. His father was a physician who paid little attention to the child and his mother, a devout Christian, spent her time on devotions, leaving her son to his own devices. The young Eugene grew up withdrawn and lacking in self confidence.Eugene proved to be a model student and in 1839 traveled to Paris where he earned a degree in law. Discovering the practice of law to be unsuitable Fromentin decided to follow his interests in art and literature and pursue a career as a painter. Limited Edition on canvas. Approx. size: 29in x 33in
